National Clubs Carnival 2024 – WAG Gymnastics were held at the Carrara Sporting Complex on the Gold Coast in September

Gemma and her team competed over two days, combining scores on both days to place 20th in Australia in the LEVEL 8 category.
They did lose a team member to injury beforehand, dropping them down to 3 people and Gemma herself gallantly competed nursing foot issues. She endured a foot fracture and then a nasty sprain on the other foot in the lead-up, which hampered her prep.

The highlight was stepping up to compete at a level higher in a short time (level 7 to 8), learning new skills and routines to help make a team. Gemma was also given the opportunity to compete in such a big venue and witness the awesome and inspiring talent that was on display from other gymnasts from other clubs across Australia. All the girls did their very best and helped set themselves new benchmark scores to help them train and continue to improve.

Gemma enjoyed watching Simone Biles and Aussie Ruby Pass at the Paris Olympics and takes inspiration from her Gladstone Gymnastics coaches Rosie and Chloe.

Her next gymnastics goal is to continue to train and Pass Level 8 testing and compete early next year at other Comp earning a place on the podium. The Gladstone & District Sports Foundation Trust is happy that we could support your journey and hope you remain injury free to chase those future podium finishes.
